MEMORIES BEACH BAR
A beachfront gathering place at the heart of Memories Beach. Easygoing by day, with food, drinks, music and community carrying into the evening.

WHERE IT STARTED
Memories Beach Bar has grown alongside the surf community around it. Set directly on the sand, it is where surfers, local families, travellers and friends come together throughout the day. Some days are about watching the waves over lunch or staying for sunset. Others bring live music, surf competitions and gatherings that fill the beach. Through it all, the feeling remains simple and relaxed. Good food, good company and life by the sea.

Food and drink
The kitchen is relaxed and beach-appropriate: Thai and Western plates, fresh fish, long breakfasts after a dawn session, cold drinks when the light turns gold. Sunset is the busy hour; the fire and music evenings run through the season.
The new bar, designed by Chiangmai Life Architects, keeps the same spot on the sand under a vaulted bamboo roof, with the same barefoot rule.

Khao Lak Elephant Home
Khao Lak Elephant Home is part of the community at Memories Surf Village, offering a more personal way to spend time around elephants and understand their daily lives.

A PLACE OF CARE
Khao Lak Elephant Home began with the rescue of three young elephants from Bangkok. Over time, it became a permanent home for Pang Wasana and grew around a simple idea: creating a place where elephants could be cared for in a more peaceful environment.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
The approach at Khao Lak Elephant Home is simple: respect the elephants and allow their natural rhythms to guide the experience. Care comes first, with time and space for the elephants to move, rest and follow their daily routines. Visitors are invited to observe, learn and spend time alongside them, creating a more meaningful understanding of the animals and their needs.
- Where
- The northern forest at Memories at Matalay, behind the surf village.
- What to expect
- Observation, feeding sessions and the walk to bathe. Small groups, guided by the keepers.

Memories Surf House
An ISA-accredited school in a bamboo house shaped like a breaking wave. Boards, coaching and the gentlest learning beach in the country.

BUILT AROUND SURF
Memories Surf House brought together the beach's two original schools, Pakarang and Better Surf, into one ISA-accredited programme. Lessons run daily through the season for every level, from a first pop-up in knee-deep water to coaching clinics for regulars.
The new house by Chiangmai Life Architects wears its purpose on the outside: surfboards line the walls between the bamboo arches, under a roof that sweeps like the wave it faces.

SURF & MORE
From late April to mid-November, Memories Beach comes alive with consistent swell. Its gently sloping shoreline makes it a natural place to learn, while the sandbar further along the beach draws more experienced surfers and competitions.
Beyond the waves, Memories Surf Village brings together board hire, surf gear, yoga and other ways to spend time outdoors, whether you’re here to surf or simply enjoy life by the sea.
