Trail to Tide returned for its second edition in 2026, bringing runners, friends and the local community together for a morning that began on the trails and ended beside the sea at Memories Surf Village.
Created as a community run rather than a race, the event invited people of all abilities to experience a different side of Khao Lak. Runners could choose between 5K and 8K routes, moving between easy roads and off-road trails, through the surrounding landscape before reaching Memories Beach.
There were experienced runners, first-timers and people simply looking for a reason to spend the morning outdoors. There was no pressure to be the fastest. The idea was simply to move, enjoy the landscape and experience it together.
More than the finish line
Crossing the finish line was only part of the morning. Back at Memories Surf Village, runners stayed by the beach for drinks, snacks and a well-earned recovery in the beachside ice baths. It became a chance to catch up with friends, meet new people and spend a little longer by the water.
The second Trail to Tide continued to grow while keeping the relaxed, inclusive spirit at the heart of the event.
Held as part of the wider Khao Lak Classic Surf Festival, the run added another way for people to experience a weekend shaped by surf, music, food and life by the sea.
For Matalay, events like Trail to Tide are about more than bringing people together for a day. They create new ways to experience the landscape and strengthen the connections already growing around Memories Beach.
